Library of the Mind eBook ô Library of MOBI :º library ebok, mind mobile, Library of download, Library of the Mind KindleHow I love the work of this living poet I rushed to the section of New Poems after savoring some older favorites such as Lipstick Traces and The Kiss That Saved My Life and the entire from Adoptable section which never fails to move me deeply New favorites include the gut punching Klara's Son which took me a minute to comprehend but then socked me with its stinging uestions as I recognized its subject and Pipestone National Monument so beautifully written about smoke as a form of prayer with Hick's talent for figurative language that is so lovely found here and throughout the work one of the finest features of his writing Also exceptional are his domestic poems so touching in their tributes to son wife mother that I both chuckled and choked on their honest portraits of everyday familial

Library of the Mind eBook ô Library of MOBI :º library ebok, mind mobile, Library of download, Library of the Mind KindleThe titular poem likens heaven to a library; it’s a touching and warming image I like it It made me smileBut the poem I’m most drawn to is Watching a Nuclear Explosion It’s a sort of hybrid short story poem that I in my limited reading of poetry have never come across in any other poet but Dr Hicks does so seamlessly There’s a tempo to words that reads like a poem The diction though straightforward as you’d find in a narrative feels intentional in a way that poetry necessitates It’s beautiful to read but it feels like what he’s doing is saying “wait this is important Listen to this” so he lays it out deceptively simply What I love most is that although the poemstory’s protagonist is the author when he says “listen to this” what he means is listen to t
